The man, the myth, the legend… Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s own Nasty on the Beats has been on a crazy run in 2025.
From his collab album with Lyrikill titled The Inauguration to Justin Hunter Greene of Elohim, those albums are the perfect setup to his most recent project simply titled 45.
This self-produced album is as introspective as it gets with soul samples and hard-hitting drums to guide the buttery flow of Nasty’s celebration of ironically turning 45. As if Nasty wasn’t already moving at rapid pace, putting out six albums in less 9 months, his dual artistic expression of beats and rhymes collided yet again for a very unique and festive project to commemorate his 45th birthday. “45” spreads wide across the length of his triune being of spirit, soul, and body, as BE!NASTY! covers topics very personal to growing up, suffering heartbreak and losses, to pointing to his authority and power to judge and rule by some of the most aggressive means. Nasty On The Beats kept the production very laid back and mostly “loops-based,” so that BE! even lays back in his mic posture. This album, while mostly penned by Nasty, does also offer the voice of legendary emcee Lyrikill on one of the songs. And while some moments do draw tears, other moments DEFINITELY suggest tearing “drawls”. LOL
Oh yeah, he kept it NASTY and Nasty.
