Drake has effectively broken the internet with his latest project “Honestly Nevermind” which is being touted as a “dance” album. It is currently being placed in the top of the Billboard 200 with an upwards of 200k album equivalent sales.
But, the streets have been laser-focused on the very last track, “Jimmy Cooks” featuring 21 Savage that has the streets on fire.
One of the most notable things about the track is the prominent (South) Memphis rap based samples. The first is a Playa Fly sample from his underground classic hit “Just Awaken Shaken” off his underground album, Just Gettin’ It On.
The second one is from his longtime on-again, off-again collaborator Gangsta Blac from his first nationwide album Can It Be with the song “Life’s A Bitch“.
The Memphis cheat code is in full effect with the production on Jimmy Cooks by Memphis’ own Tay Keith to make the cipher complete.
So, check out the samples THEN check out the Drake track below.
It’s a Memphis thang even from Toronto.
