Memphis’ own High Ruler King Cane & L’Daialogue DiCaprio, better known as the group 2Deep are gearing up starting off 2021 with a bang. Their new offering ANNAKNOCKKEY 2: THE NEW GODZ is one of the hottest underground album dropping this year.
For those that don’t know, ANNAKNOCKKEY 2: THE NEW GODZ is an elevated continuation of their previous LP as they delve deeper into their North Memphis neighborhood with a play off of their local slang “anna” (a shortened form of the word ‘animosity’), “knock“(a slang term for bumpin’ music) and “keyz“(meaning their sound is the ‘key’). Also, the word “anunnaki” refers to the ancient anunnaki of the past & mirrors their monikers as Da’ Pharoh & Tha’ King bringing similarities of ancient Memphis to modern-day Memphis, Tennessee.
ANNAKNOCKKEY 2: THE NEW GODZ is giving you a musical journey amidst the Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. The vibe is shown clear through the thumping track “Infinitis 4 Da Low” that has Cane & Dai giving you a lyrical ride through their North Memphis neighborhood of Frayser bka “Tha Bay”.
Also, tracks like “Switch Sidez“, the bluesy-autotuned bump of “Valley Of The Kingz” & the groove-filled pimpin’ of “Have U Done That Yet (feat. D-Rock)“, this project doesn’t disappoint in its fire beats & high level Southern lyricism.
The production is handled by The Clazzikal Clazzik Team & South Carolina native Rick Flare on the original & remix versions of the track “On Mines” & “On Mines (Pt. 2)“.
